![]() ![]() ![]() Postponements and Cancellations Update - Mar 08, 2010 The following games have been postponed and will be made up as noted: March 10 10U Belmont Dynamite vs. Belmont Blasters (game rescheduled for March 21st at McDougal? 1 at 11:00am) March 8 10U Burlingame Green Xtreme vs. Burlingame Bulldogs - Rescheduled to Friday Night March 12 at Ray Park 2, 5:00 PM. Field Use Procedures - Feb 26, 2010 Due to the heavy rain and field conditions, please read the field use policies that we are going to implement for spring: 1. Field Conditions - The field condition phone number is 558-7319. If there is rain, please check to see if the fields are closed. This field line is the final authority on field conditions. 2. BGS Website - We will try to update field conditions on the BGS website which is www.burlingamesoftball.org and you can check this as well for information. Please pass these numbers and this information to your team families. 3. BGS Master Field Schedule - There is a Master Field Schedule for Ray Park, Franklin, and Osberg. This is in a google doc and everyone has been sent the link. If you practice on any RAY field, Osberg or Franklin, you MUST post your practice on this calendar. (We do not care about casual blacktop practices.) If you cancel a practice, please delete it from the calendar so that we know what space is open. 4. Priority - 14U and then 12U have priority time at Ray 1, 10U has priority at Ray 2, 8U has priority at Ray 3 until Franklin and Osberg open. Each team (14,12,10,8) has one scheduled practice each week on Sunday (14,12,10) and during the week (8) and this is your one guaranteed practice. If there is rain, games from the previous Saturday (one week earlier) may be rescheduled on Sundays and those will take priority over practices. 5. Additional Practice Times - Coaches may book additional practice times one week in advance if the fields are open. Games, rescheduled games, and teams with rained out practices have first priority on fields (in that order) and then all other teams may schedule out one week in advance ONLY. If you practice on a field before a game, you must drag, rake, and line the field for the game. 6. Joint Practices - During weeks of heavy rain, we may asked teams in the same division to host joint practices to maximize field use during the season. The league also reserves the right to run skills clinics during weekday practice time as a priority. 7. Rules Protocol - We hope that all teams and coaches will honor the shared spirit of our practice rules and abide by the terms, especially during times of inclement weather. Coaches that violate the use conditions may receive a verbal warning from the league, a second violation will result in a written warning, and a third violation may result in revocation of your booking privileges and all field requests will have to be submitted to the league for approval. Given the forecasted rainy season, please be careful on the fields. If the dirt fields are dry and there are no puddles, you may use them. If the fields make footprints, they are probably too wet to use safely. Please use discretion and common sense and hold safety as a top priority on all fields. We are very excited to start the new season and have some important dates and information for you below. 1. ACE Certification: The two links below explain this process. The lower link allows you to log on and sign-up for ACE certification. There are three levels and you only need to obtain Level 1, but welcome to do the others as well. Andreanna Vierra needs your ACE verification by Friday February 12 please so that you can begin practices after that time. This is critical as it is our background check and our insurance for you. ANY PARENT HELPING WITH THE TEAMS MUST BE ACE CERTIFIED TO BE IN THE DUGOUT ON GAME DAY. The cost is $25 and it takes about 30 minutes to complete. You must wear your ACE cards on all game days please. You need to ACE certify each year that you coach please, it does not roll over. http://www.asasoftball.com/youth/certification.asp www.registerasa.com 2. Mandatory Coach Meeting February 3 at Park and Rec 7:00 PM: Please make sure at least one of your coaches attends this meeting. You will get your team lists, we will review the updated rules, equipment requirements, and we will explain sock night and we will have practice times available for you. Please pass this invitation along to your co-coaches or other parents helping out. 3. Sock Night at BIS February 10: This is our fun filled night when the girls find out their teams and meet each other. You will want to email your parents to make sure their players attend. This will be the best time for the players to order BGS jackets. 4. Skills Clinic and Coach Clinic: Our annual skills clinic and coach clinic with All American Softball Academy is scheduled for Saturday February 27 at Ray Park Field. U6 and U8 players are from 9 -12 and U10,U12 and U14 players are from 12:30 - 3:00 PM. The equipment truck will join us. The coach training is mandatory so please have at least one coach from each team attend. This will help you understand the standards expected at each level. BGS pays for the coach clinic. The player clinic is $40 per player. We will have on-line sign-ups available soon. 5. Sponsors - Please start thinking about team sponsorships. Each team sponsorship is $250 and includes a business card add on your team page in our yearbook. This year our yearbooks will be free to every player, so be sure to check with your parents and get their adds in soon. This is a major source of funding for the league and critical for us to maintain our excellent programs, fields and equipment. We use the funds to pay for clinics, new and safer equipment as well as maintain our fields. We will also have parent shout-outs for the reduced price of $20 for two lines. More information on this at the Coach Meeting. 6. Uniforms: Thanks to Kim Firenze and Lynn Arcenal Chan, uniform orders are rolling in ahead of time. Thank you for getting your colors and team names in so soon. It is a huge help. This year we are going to provide coach t-shirts with the BGS logo or baseball caps - we will discuss your preferences at the Coach meeting and obtain orders there. The league pays for two coach items per team and more are available at our cost. Uniforms should be available the week before games start. 7. Practices and Opening Day: Opening day is Saturday March 6 and includes picture taking for each team. Picture forms will be available the week before. Practice fields open February 27. 8. CAL V STANFORD Softball - Saturday April 3 at 1:00 PM is the BGS day down at Stanford. Come on and cheer the blue and gold or red and white, either way it is a great day and the girls all come in uniform and head to the field for a great time and to meet the players in person.
